The inauguration of the 2023 festival was held in the stained-glass hall of the wonderfully restored Old Stock Exchange with Samuel Rohrer’s „Hungry Ghosts”solo drums & electronics.A large dose of virtuosity and spontaneity emerged during performances in the Eklektik Room format: Chris Dahlgren on viola da gamba and Imran Khan on tablaaccompanied by local guests took their audiences to the next level. Final performance led by Jan Galega’s Tipping Point project wasalso anvisual extravaganza thanks to Optickle, multimedia artist from Switzerland. The 2023 edition of the festival has been once again exploring history and searching new spaces for culture

Unique event combining the worlds of music, fashion, and design. Ben Aylon with his One Man Tribe projectinspired by West African and Middle Eastern rhythmsperformed within theminimalistic and spacious architecture of the Mercedes-Benz Grupa Wróbel showroom followed by a fashion show of designer Monika Tatiana Idzikowska. Jo Berger Myhreproject „Unheimlich Manoeuvre” and guitarist Nguyên Lê with Mieko Miyazaki and Prabhu Eduoard as Saiyuki trioadded splendor when thefestival moved to former Eklektik Art space in the heart of the city marking grand opening of the restored venue.

The theme of 2021festivalwasno accident.In July that year Pamoja Zanzibar Festivaltook place for the first time on theisland of Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania. Only about month later, exceptionally in the summer, ES festivalin Wroclawbecame a continuation of the East-African event prioritizingunity (Pamoja in Swahili language) and respect. Concerts in public spaces like loading ramp on city’sfavoriteweekly marketand eagerly awaited Jimi Tenor’s band with Pamoja orchestra featuring Ghana’s highlite performer Karikari and Swahili blues singer/songwriter Salum Matata added unique African flavorand charismatothis enthusiasticallyreceived edition.

Executed despite all oddsduring Covidlockdown, the BOXED edition welcomed Dele Sosimi, the true Afrobeat ambassador. Having worked as rhythm keyboard player and musical director for Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s Egypt 80, Dele arrived in Wroclaw to work with Bond on Eklektik Afrobeat Orchestrajoined by drummer Ekow Alabi Savageand Polish section. The final performance preceded by workshops at National Forum of Music, has been held in strict conditions, nevertheless was probably the only event at the time where people eventually couldn’t resist dancing. Another highlight of 2020 edition was collaboration with The Interactive Objects and Spaces Laboratory research team: Dominika Sobolewska, Patrycja MastejandSebastian Sobótkaresulting inEmpathic Design exhibition, showcasingobjects and inventionscreated with a young generation of students in the spirit of empathy, addressing the needs of ourselves and our planet.
